Dear Families, On behalf of the faculty and staff and Millbrook Middle School, I would like to welcome you to the 2009-2010 school year. We hope you will find this school year to be a memorable and exciting one. We are committed to making MMJHS the best school for your child, but we are not enough. You, the parent, must play a key role in the education of your child. Your interest in your child's work and your presence at school is vital. Research shows high correlation between student achievement with parental interest and involvement. Together we can make this a productive and successful year. Cooperation is the key, and, toward that end, we suggest that you read this handbook supplement thoroughly with your child. It will tell you exactly what our expectations are and what services and benefits you may expect from the school. Every child is unique, and we do everything we can to see that your student gets the type of information that is right for him/her. However, each student will gain from our school according to the effort he/she applies. It is very important that teachers, parents, and school administrators communicate openly and frequently concerning the progress of students. Regular parent-teacher conferences are encouraged. We look forward to working with your child this year. Sincerely, Steve McKenzie, Principal
